It's Very Stupid #1: Tariffs

Hello, dear readers, I hope you are well. I have decided that, in order to get you more value out of my newsletter, and to make it something of an actual newsletter. I realized that most of my articles were pretty long and I could only do about one a month. The investigative work I enjoy doing also isn’t entirely sustainable like that, not because it costs me much, but rather that the topics run dry after one or two articles when I don’t have much in the way of contacts. I’ll still be writing those longer pieces, but realized I can’t rely on them for monthly subscribers.

That’s why I’m starting an actual weekly newsletter here: It’s Very Stupid. Every week I want to highlight some policy or idea being floated in American politics that doesn’t make a lot of sense for anyone involved. This won’t be things like a tax breaks for billionaires that spikes the federal deficit or bills that strip transgender people of rights, because those have some utility for the ruling class and/or part of their psychotic constituency. I want to focus on the policies which help almost nobody, that bring back forms of economic and social inefficiency thought impossible since being in government generally required one to have known how to read.
